Creating Safer Communities: Why Mass Incarceration Fails

September 24, 2024 @ 6:00 pm
@ 8:00 pm

Join us and partners for the "Creating Safer Communities" event organized by the Maryland Office of the Public Defender.

We will explore how three decades of mass incarceration have impacted our communities and discuss proactive solutions for the future. This engaging forum will connect the dots between the federal crime bill and its effects on Maryland, and debate pivotal reforms such as the Second Look Act, Felony Murder/Study Bill, and Geriatric and Medical Parole.

Learn how empowering communities with the right resources and support can keep people safe and at home, moving us beyond mass incarceration towards a just and equitable society.

Moderator: Sean Mukherjee; District Public Defender
