Alicia Smith is a communications strategist at the ACLU of Maryland. In this role she creates impactful digital campaigns that promote and advance the organization's mission.
Alicia has a B.A. in English and a minor in Media Studies from the University of Virginia. During her time at UVA she channeled her passion for social justice through an internship with the university's LGBTQ Center. After college, she launched her digital career as a staff writer for Blavity and expanded her advocacy career as a communications assistant at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. Before joining the ACLU team, Alicia worked for the National Council of Jewish Women and Mascot Books (a local independent publisher). Throughout her diverse digital advocacy career, she remains dedicated to providing equity and justice for historically oppressed communities.
