Join ACLU of Maryland, Common Cause Maryland, MDDC Press Association, League of Women Voters MD, and the Marylanders for Open Government coalition for a Transparency Summit on Friday, January 20th, from 1-6pm, at the Governor’s Calvert House.
Admission is free, with a reception and mixer taking place at the end of the event.
The Marylanders for Open Government coalition is leading a massive effort for greater transparency and access in every aspect of our government. Access to government data is a fundamental pillar of an effective democracy. And in a 21st century democracy, that means looking at new ways to enable transparency and accountability in government decisions, records and files.
The policy summit will feature panels and short presentation on a range of topics including:
• Participatory budget process;
• Inclusive legislative process;
• Police Accountability;
• Remote Court Access;v and
• Changes to the Maryland Public Information Act.
Featured speakers include Attorney General Anthony Brown, Comptroller-Elect Brooke Lierman, Senator Jill Carter, and more to be announced soon.
