Montgomery County needs to decriminalize being a student driver, while Black, Latinx/e, or disabled. This Sunday, the ACLU is joining the coalition to Decriminalize Montgomery County for a rally that will relaunch the campaign to advocate for the safety and wellbeing of our community, especially our most vulnerable.
The coalition’s focus has always been to end the discrimination and criminalization of Montgomery County students in public school, especially Black and Brown students who experience discrimination. Decriminalize Montgomery County coalition has successfully removed armed police officers from schools and initiated restorative justice practices. Now, the coalition strives to end the criminalization of young drivers in traffic stops.
Together, we can forge a better path to safer traffic enforcement, a fairer education system, and a community where everyone can thrive and live safely. Join us to call for Montgomery County to decriminalize children.
The coalition will provide food at the event.
