Nick Taichi Steiner is a senior staff attorney at the ACLU of Maryland, focusing on immigrants’ rights and voting rights in Maryland.
Before becoming a staff attorney, he was an Equal Justice Works fellow funded by the Ottinger Foundation from 2017-2019, and his fellowship project focused on the criminalization of immigrants by local law enforcement, and the injustices committed by immigration authorities in Maryland. He also is working to expand the right to vote for disenfranchised communities across the state.
Prior to coming to the ACLU, Nick was a student attorney for the International Human Rights Law Clinic at Washington College of Law, working on asylum and prolonged immigration detention cases, and he has worked for the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture.
