Baltimore #FundOurSchools Parent Town Hall

October 28, 2019 @ 5:30 pm 7:30 pm

What is happening at our schools in Baltimore City?

Join ACLU of Maryland, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. and our co-sponsors CASA, Elev8, and the student group SOMOS at the Virginia S. Baker Recreation Center in Patterson Park on Monday, October 28. Hear about new opportunities, and get important information for parents, guardians, and students.

The event is a Baltimore City parent/guardian-focused town hall to discuss how the ongoing historic Bradford lawsuit could impact public schools. Representatives from both organizations, as well as parents/guardians and students involved with the case, will provide information about the lawsuit’s history, current status, and what it could mean for children in Baltimore City public schools.

We also want to hear directly from parents/guardians about your experiences with school conditions, from classes, programs, and the physical buildings themselves.

The event will also feature opportunities for parents/guardians to dive deeper into other specific issues that impact you and your children, with breakout discussions on a variety of topics with staff from ACLU, LDF, and participating community partners. Topics will include the Bradford lawsuit, the fight for an equitable Kirwan education funding formula, students' rights, community schools, and more.
