MONDAY: Federal Court to Hear Arguments in Challenge to Latest Muslim Ban
WHAT:
A federal trial court in Maryland will hear arguments in three separate but related challenges to the Trump administration's latest version of its Muslim ban - the president's third such attempt. Like the previous versions, the new ban announced last month blocks travel to the United States from six Muslim-majority countries - in this version, Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen. The new ban also includes North Koreans and certain Venezuelan government officials.
The groups are seeking a preliminary injunction to stop the ban from taking full effect October 18.
WHO:
The cases being heard are:
International Refugee Assistance Project v. Trump, brought by the American Civil Liberties Union, ACLU of Maryland, National Immigration Law Center, International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) at the Urban Justice Center on behalf of HIAS, IRAP, Middle East Studies Association, Yemeni American Merchants Association, and the Arab American Association of New York.
Iranian Alliances Across Borders v. Trump, brought by Muslim Advocates, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and Covington & Burling LLP, in consultation with the National Iranian-American Council (NIAC).
Zakzok v. Trump, brought by CAIR and the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law

Immediately following the arguments, the groups will hold a joint media briefing in the plaza in front of the courthouse.
