ANNAPOLIS, MD - After a series of police killings across the nation and in Maryland, concern about police practices has dramatically increased. At 7 p.m. on Monday, January 18, activists from across the state will join the Maryland Coalition for Justice and Police Accountability for a rally, press conference and die-in in Annapolis to call on legislators to work to pass strong police accountability legislation in 2016.

The positive votes and recommendations released on Monday by the Maryland Public Safety and Policing Workgroup are a step in the right direction, but there remain important areas that need improvement to ensure real accountability, especially in communities targeted by racially biased over-policing.
