Your vote is your voice and your right.  That is why the ACLU of Maryland Election Protection Campaign is working hard to ensure all Marylanders are heard this November. In addition to distributing over 20,000 Voter Empowerment Cards across Maryland, we have also created a Voter Empowerment Checklist of basics to ensure you, and everyone you know, are empowered voters!

Voter Empowerment Checklist:

  • Are you registered to vote? Do you know the deadline for registering?
  • Do you know when early voting begins and where you can vote early?
    • Early voting in Maryland is October 27 - November 1
    • Early voting centers are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., except for Sunday October 28, when they are open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Remember! Your Early Voting Center is differnet from your normal polling place and each county has at least one Early Voting Center
  • Do you know the date of Election Day? How about when polls open and close?
    • Election Day is Tuesday, November 6
    • Polls are open 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
  •  Do you know your polling place on Election Day?
  • Do you know if former offenders can vote in Maryland?
    • Former offenders CAN vote in Maryland if they:
      • Are NOT currently incarcerated for a felony conviction
      • Are NOT currently on parole OR probation for a felony conviction
      • Have re-registered to vote before the deadline - October 16, 2012 after completing their incarceration, parole, and/or probation
  •  Do you know what to do if you have problems on Election Day?
